BFT plagued with penis envy

Perhaps it's penis envy, or maybe it's just plain old fashioned Texas hating, but Boi From Troy has listed the Longhorns at #6 on his Blog Poll ballot. Aside from vastly underrating the Horns, he has a two-loss Notre Dame team ahead of Texas. Yes, the same Notre Dame team that lost at home to Michigan State. The Spartans, meanwhile, are a team that lost, at home, to Northwestern, 49-14. And again, this week, to Purdue. What the f*ck?

BFT does a great job of blogging about gay politics. But I won't bother checking his blog for anything related to sports. He's either dumb, misinformed, or excessively biased. Either way, it's beyond justifiable.

Bear in mind that BFT had UCLA at #2 last week. Last week's ballot also had this gem: next to Alabama, who he ranked at #3, he says, "Defense wins championships." Of course, he then puts Texas, with a top 10 defense, at #5 and, this week, behind Notre Dame.

Some of us take our Blog Poll ballots seriously. Others, it turns out, do not.

Barring a turnaround in my sexual preference, I have absolutely no reason to visit that blog anymore. R.I.P.

Comments:
Texas at #6 is no crazier than Texas at #1.

Just look at what the Colley Matrix did to USC last week (and they're part of the BCS!)

There are three reasons BFT ranked ND ahead of Texas, and their names are Quinn, Samardzija, and Zbikowski. Sex appeal unfortunately is not part of the BCS formula.

That doesn't even make sense. Then again, most of the garbage you see on this blog from USC posters is indecipherable. Good thing USC has a great football team; they have the worst fans in the country. And it's not close.

Stupid Trojans...that holier-than-thou attitude will only get them so far. Hell, I'm a UCLA alum and I wouldn't have put UCLA in the top 4 last week (before they lost to Arizona). I think the best part is his reasoning for dropping Texas:

"Texas would have been better off in my book had they won a 35-14 game."

And regardless of whether his name is actually "Boi," or if he is unable to spell the word "boy," his above judgement alone shows the value of an 'SC education.

BFT pretty much represents things I don't like (and there's no need to get into THAT any further...), but I think he's trying to make a point by saying our brief stint at #1 in the BCS was as random as us being ranked #6. I don't think he honestly believes five teams are better than us - I think his ranking is trying to be funny. I agree, I wouldn't take his blog too seriously. I'm not sure what his intention is with his blog, probably just his own personal musings, but I wouldn't take any of that football information he presents too seriously.

BFT and many other blogs (thankfully not this one) are becoming decreasingly informational and increasingly just a vehicle for personal sentiment and bad attempts at comedy. That's fine if you preface your blog as such, but going under the guise of any factual blog as BFT, Deadspin, or Yaysports do so often is terribly annoying.

We should all be thanking BFJ because at least he has proven that USC is overrated. Afterall, if Texas would be better off beating Baylor by only 20 points, then USC would have been better off beating OU by only touchdown last year. Clearly, the Trojans only proved that OU was overrated and USC isn't all that.

Taking that guy serious as a sports fan is a bad idea, even though he takes himself seriously. He'd be better off sticking to what he knows - gay politics - and away from issues he knows jack shit about - football.

The worst part about it is that it's not even consistent. There are logical contradictions all over the place. Like PB said, he's either really dumb or just biased.

If UCLA is out, Texas Tech and California should be too.

Since Texas beat Baylor by 62-0 and looked worse than beating them 35-14, maybe if Baylor had beaten us, we might be ranked #1!

Ranjit, you miss the point.

If Baylor were getting better, then it would have played a closer game againstTexas and its close games against other Big XII schools would be indicative of an improving conference.

However, the UT-Baylor game showed (me at least) that the conference is getting worse this year--thereby making Texas' wins less impressive.

Even if you grant BFT his point, that Baylor isn't improved, it doesn't follow that Texas shouldn't get any credit for their wins. There is simply no way you can rank Texas #6 and be taken seriously. None.

I don't understand what this guy is thinking. How is Texas behind Notre Dame who has lost twice? Michigan State has lost a ton of games, and Notre Dame lost to them. That would be like if Texas had lost to Colorado. Very weird. Obviously he just doesn't like Texas.

I didn't miss the point. I was just pointing out that the argument didn't have any merit. You can't base a team solely on one game, or even on the strength of its conference. Obviously, that may come into play in some scenarios, but saying that beating a team 35-14 would be more impressive than beating a team 62-0 doesn't make sense. Could USC help the fact that other Pac-10 teams (aside from Cal) were crappy last year? Would people have said that after 9 games that USC was the 6th (or now 4th in your list)-best team in the country? Your argument states that if a team doesn't blow out its opposition, it is better than if it does blow them out, which makes no sense.

I could accept Texas as #6, if it was backed with facts and reasoning. HERe is BFJ's reasoning: "They’re a one-man show. Take Vince Young out and you have nothing. Texas would finish the regular season…9-2.
That’s because Texas’ only real game this year against decent competition was Ohio State. They won that one, but it was not pretty.
Ball Control. Texas’ turnover ratio is 1.14…with 16 takeaways and 14 giveaways. More important, they have fumbled the ball 24 times this season. USC on the other hand has 23 takeaways and 11 giveaways, for a turnover ratio of 2.09…and the Men of Troy have 10 less fumbles than Texas.
George Bush is from Texas, and he misled us into war…just like many are trying to mislead the Longhorns into the Rose Bowl (where people are also likely to get slaughtered, albeit metaphorically)"

First, Ranking them lower because you claim Texas would be 9-2 without Vince misses the point that he IS on the team and they should be ranked accordingly.

Second I think four wins against top 25 teams (by the BCS) is a pretty decent schedule, better than USC or Notre Dame, both above Texas? Also, Texas at least managed to cover the spread against OSU, USC v ND did not.

Third one statistic does not tell alot about a team. To me it is more impressive to win big without a huge turnover margin (but that is a matter of opinion). A Better statistic is what is done with those turnovers. Texas has almost doubled its oponents on Points off turnovers a more important statisitc.

Finnally, whether or not Bush is from Texas is not relavant to Football, however even assuming it is Bush went to Yale. OJ went to USC. Nixon is from the stat of California.

Blogs have a penis?

:-)

Thanks for the information. Keep it up. Best greetings.
