TX-OU Game Stats
It hasn’t been often that we marvel at stats after the OU game. Let’s continue to relish this one. Take a look.
- Texas 45, OU 12. The 33 point loss tied the worst OU loss in the 100 year old series and 45 is the most points ever scored by Texas against OU.
- Texas leaves the OU game undefeated for the first time since 1983. That year Texas finished an undefeated regular season before losing to Georgia in the Cotton Bowl.
- Texas played an unusual 3 down linemen, 2 linebackers, and 6 defensive back defense for much of the game confusing Bomar and holding OU to just 171 yards of total offense (94 passing and 77 rushing).
- For the second week in a row, Texas played sloppily with 3 fumbles (only 1 lost) and 12 penalties yet still won by more than 30 points.
- Vince Young threw for 241 yards and three TDs despite constant OU blitzes which forced VY to throw quickly and from off his back foot.
- VY improved to a shocking 22-2 as a starting quarterback.
- UT is on a 12 game winning streak which includes victories over Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Michigan, Ohio State, and now Oklahoma.
- Freshman running back Jamaal Charles again passed the century mark on the ground, 116 yards to be exact, despite only nine carries and an ankle injury that kept him out for the second half.
- OU didn’t have a play over nine yards until the 4th quarter.

Anyone know what happened to JC? I saw him come back in the 2nd half to the bench, and obviously with the game in hand, there was no point risking him out there. But is he good to against CU? THere's no way i (or any other longhorn fan) wants to see selvin out there to start
Sorry I don't know what happened to JC. That is a damn good question though. It would be nice if someone looked into that...
The disparity between JC and SYoung couldn't have been any more dramatic than what happened against OU. We had 2 back-to-back, one play drives in the first half. First was a handoff to SY which resulted in a fumble and a subsequent OU 3 (thank you Defense). The next drive - first play - we hand to JC and one great move and a couple terrible tackles later : UT 6. Please don't be hurt Jamaal.
