Hoop Heaven

Texas has released its 2005-06 schedule for the basketball season, and it’s a dandy. Along with the potential games at the Guardian Classic (which we blogged about earlier here), Texas has an intriguing non-conference schedule, with two huge games—against Duke at Madison Square Garden (December 10th) and Villanova in Austin (January 14th). Duke’s prominence is well known, but don’t forget Villanova. The Cats got hot at the end of the last year and made a nice run in the NCAA tournament before finally bowing out, and return all five starters from last year's squad. These are huge games and a great test for the Longhorns, as both Villanova and Duke could be ranked in the Top 5. In fact, ESPN's Andy Katz ranks Duke #1 and Villanova #3 in his preseason rankings. Guess who's #2? Yep, Texas. Football’s not the only Texas team with big dreams this year. --PB--

Comments:
The Duke game is at the Meadowlands, Continental Airlines Arena, not the Garden
