Aldridge could be back soon

Yesterday I told you not to expect freshman center Lamarcus Aldridge back anytime soon. Apparently, I was very mistaken, as Rick Barnes is now saying Aldridge “is feeling a lot better” and could be back in a matter of days. If Aldridge is indeed close to being healthy and he can pick up where he left off before the injury (when he led the Horns in scoring and rebounding during Big 12 play), Texas would be in a lot better shape for the rest of the season. Buckman and Klotz are both skilled, useful players, but their limitations (not to mention those of freshmen Mike Williams and Dion Dowell) leave the Horns wanting in the frontcourt. A healthy Aldridge would be such a nice boost for Texas on both ends of the court. Defensively, Texas has been relegated to playing zone, which Barnes admits that he loathes, because the frontcourt is stretched so thin. The return of Aldridge could allow Texas to play the more physical, man-oriented defense that Barnes loves. Hope springs eternal, my friends...
