Buckman assuming greater role
One of the few bright spots from the Iowa State loss was the huge night Texas got from forward Brad Buckman. Looking past the fact that Texas gave away a win, the emergence of Buckman (20 points, 15 boards) is crucial for Texas if they are going to avoid falling apart down the stretch. Barnes is pushing Buckman hard to assume a greater role on offense, as highlighted in this article. If Buckman can give Texas 15-20 points of offense per game, Texas should be fine. I'm hoping the inability to close out Iowa State was a hiccup and not a sign of things to come.
