Do your part

I didn't think this was real, but it is. The website www.voteforheisman.com is holding a public vote for the 2005 Heisman Trophy, and the top three players get actual legit votes in the real Heisman balloting. First place gets a first-place vote, second place a second, and third place a third.

At the time of this post, Vince Young is second behind Maurice Drew. You can click here for the current leaderboard.

Please do your part by going to this site and voting for the player you think is deserving. I think it's obvious who we support.

You have to enter a valid email address for your vote to be counted, and you can vote once a week. It's worth it, because this can actually make a difference in the final tally.

I have. Reggie Bush! ;)

As big a Texas fan as I am, I'll be the first to admit that Reggie Bush is friggin' great. And if he wins the Heisman you'll hear no complaint from me. I wish Reggie all the best. I just hope he doesn't decide to brutally hack up his wife and a waiter one day.

How many votes are there in the Heisman polling?

From http://www.heisman.com/history/balloting.html:

Each Section within the United States has 145 media votes, totaling 870 media votes across the country. Additionally every former Heisman winner, 52 presently, has a vote as well. In 1999, The Heisman Trophy agreed to develop a special program to allow the public at large to become part of the balloting process by permitting one (1) fan vote eligible in the overall tabulation. This program continues in 2005, bringing the total number of voters for the 2005 Heisman race to 923.
...
The 2005 Heisman ballots are mailed out on Wednesday, November 16th 2005. The ballots are due back to Deloitte, by Wednesday, December 6th. Again, there are 923 votes for 2005.
